Medicine library: a brief history of engraving

Oct. 28

Exhibition: Medicine in pictures. A brief history of engraving

From the Renaissance onwards, the art of engraving revolutionized the book. Intimately associated with typography, it made it possible to reproduce images reliably and on a massive scale, which scientists were able to use to disseminate knowledge.

Thanks to a selection of their heritage works, the Health Libraries offer you a glimpse into the history of scientific engraving in the medical field, from the 16th to the 19th centuries.

Exhibition from October 28 to November 20, 2024.

Free admission from the library ground floor ("espace patrimonial").
