Take part in the 27th edition of Brain Week!
Conference: "Diagnostic innovations in epilepsy: in search of the starting point of seizures "
Epilepsy is a brain disease characterized by repeated seizures caused by abnormal electrical activity. Around one in three people with epilepsy do not respond well to medication. So, how can we best help these patients?
In this presentation, we'll look at how doctors and researchers use different techniques to "see" brain activity. These include non-invasive approaches such as electroencephalogram (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG), as well as invasive techniques such as stereo-EEG, which can pinpoint the precise location of seizures. The aim? Identify precisely where seizures originate, so as to envisage surgery that could change patients' lives.
Speakers: Maria Fratello, PhD student at the Institut de Neurosciences des Systèmes and Francesca Bonini, neurologist and senior lecturer at the Institut de Neurosciences des Systèmes (INS, UMR1106).
Location: 2nd floor of the médecine-odontologie Timone library.
A conference-debate open to all.
